Since the beginning, the success of the Urban Project in Tanzania has been due to support from people like you, so we want to give away a few CD’s to say thanks to all of you who continue to help us share the Bongo story!

It’s about Thanks

This project has been all about community support, and it’s growing everyday. The party this Thursday is a thank you to everyone who helped the project, whether that was by tweeting or blogging, making a donation or dragging a friend out to one of our fund raising events. This one is for you.

The Fun ends Thursday at 3pm. Random.org is a random number generator. We’ll count off the submissions, generate 2 random numbers if your number is drawn, you win the album. If you win, and join us Thursday, you’ll get a hard copy of the CD, if you’re unable to attend, you’ll get access to the.mp3′s (it’ll save the environment and our pocketbooks, two worthy causes!) In the fall of 2008, we traveled to Dar es Salaam to help a group of street youth record a hip hop album with the help of Urban Project, a grassroots charity that support youth lead art projects in urban centers, and the GENEROUS CONTRIBUTIONS OF OUR DONORS (you!), these guys were able to record a six track album that they called Maisha Magumu (Hard Life).

This event is to celebrate their music and talent and to THANK YOU for donating to this project.

ENTRY IS FREE.

All proceeds from CD sales ($10 each) will go back to the artists and will help to pay for safe housing and school fees.

There will also be a live performance by Victoria based Hip Hop crew, THE C.F.C.

ARE  YOU AN ASPIRING MC? We’ll also be hosting an Open Mic Hip Hop Battle.
