“Wasaka Fedha” THE MONEY HUNTERS

Explanation from Kindo: I made this picture to be a new name for the MASELA. As everyday goes on, we do nothing but of hunt for cash!
When I introduced it at the *Maskani, they really liked it but problem was, HOW WOULD PEOPLE KNOW IT?
“I Didn’t 4Get But I Just Don’t Care”

Explanation from Kindo: This graffiti reminds me of my girlfriend whom I met at my school.
Although we were studying in the same classroom, neither our teachers nor our fellow students suspected our relationship ’cause we had never been close and I was always with my art.
One day when I was in the school library, my buddy came and told me that there was a girl and he really loved but he didn’t know the right words to tell her, so he asked me to draw him something like a love letter or a card that could send to that girl. I did and he paid me.
After few weeks letter, he phoned me with a cheerful voice, he said that letter was accepted and she had agreed to be his girlfriend. I was proud of myself because I knew that was my work!
But one day I realized that she was my girlfriend when he introduced her to me.
It really hurt my heart but it happened. Since that day my girlfriend became my friend’s girlfriend and we were close.
I USED TO TELL HER THAT I DIDN’T FORGET, BUT I JUST DON’T CARE.

The Last Few Months

Its been a while and a lot has happened! Here’s the catch up on the film, the project, the guys…
Urban Project hosted a kick ass CD release party for Maisha Magumu (Hard Life) in Vancouver with an energetic performance by the CFC and a spirited freestyle battle between an insanely talent MC (Kofi) and OUR MC James (literally, our master of ceremonies) who held his own surprisingly well.

We sold some albums, raising $700 dollars for the artists, Wakali Wa Downtown which goes a surprisingly loooooong way in Dar. THANK YOU ALL FOR COMING OUT AND SUPPORTING THESE TALENTED YOUTH!! XO
We are still selling the album on CD Baby and ALL the money raised goes back to these artists.
So what has happened with the money?
Danya (Director of Urban Project) returned to Dar and with the money raised and has set the guys up in housing for ANOTHER YEAR! She also managed to pay some school fees and is in the process of setting up assistants in Dar who will keep the support running smoothly from the ground. Meet David and you know Ninja, he has gone from being a participant to an assistant in the Dar es Salaam Project. Right on, Ninja. See the story about them HERE. The msela are all doing well and aside from the typical street life problems, they are generally healthy and continue to keep themselves inspired.
And their music? Listen to this…
This text will be replaced
Omary recorded this track after we left Dar. He found another studio (24/7 Records) and producer to help him. These guys continue to amaze us.
